Just last night Ive gotten a call from some guy named Professor Walter Quist, some scientist that works with some sort of hybrid of the human body and biomechanics having the company known as Tracheotomy or something like that. It was around four a.m. when he called me and the reason was that he wants to meet with me. I only know him for his best discovery of a new disease substance which led to my invasion of England, having the entire country on quarantine for a week when a vaccine was created. I really have no idea why somebody I dont even know would want to talk to me, over at a hidden location in Transylvania. He even said that it was so important, that he even cant even describe it to me in words.
I basically have to travel to this location in Transylvania by aerial transport. It took me about eight hours to get there. I barely did anything on that plane. Ive slept most of the time while watching some 50s B-Sci-Fi Movie. I wasnt really hungry at all so I declined my meals and just went with the snacks I took with me. I honestly have the thought still stuck in my head about this Walter character.
I basically looked up a background on him to get to know him better. Ive looked up on Villainpedia.org and found some information on him. Apparently hes been working on some weird experiments with these custom made formulas on animals and volunteered human subjects. He was born on the same year as my late father, 1966, making his age around fifty-three. In fact hes been working for my father for quite a while, helping him out with some of his schemes and jobs all over the world. Ive never really knew that someone like him would have a good time-line of my fathers works. Maybe Im having second thoughts about this. Perhaps hes just gonna sit down with me and talk about my father and his past works with him. There were so many things I wanted to know about him and maybe this day will be the day.
Weve landed on vampire soil. Hes given use the exact location of this hidden lab, which was underground. His servant, Bates, was waiting for me and he insisted to escort me to the entrance of this lab. Bates seemed to be around his sixties, wearing a regular tuxedo and some glasses to match with his balding head and full grown mustache. His speech was heavily British so its best to say that hes not around here, possibly getting a few extra bucks working for a corrupted scientist like me. He said that I had to come in alone, without my body-guards and robot butler, Zero. I even intended to go in there alone in the first place, so it was all right. Theyve constructed an elevator inside a castle tower which may seem cliché but effective once you think about it.
I can already judge what level of what an evil laboratory this might be. Looking inside the elevator, its made out of clean, chrome metal. The buttons are holographic with hexagonal shapes, something that I couldnt do because its beyond my level of technology. Once the elevator doors open I was surprised. This place had to big as a hangar or something similar to that. Computers were everywhere, either with big monitors or small. The air was chilly but it matched up the weather outside, so I didnt mind much of it.
Master Vlad will be with you soon. Said the old servant. May I take your coat, Mr. Metalix?
No, but thanks anyway. I said, even though it was more like a mumbling than just speaking. The butler left, picking up a tray with him perhaps for making us tea for a meeting like this.
Ive looked around some more to get used to this place. The entire place was deserted; there was no one but me around this room with a view. Dead plants were the only decorations around here, other than the fish tanks inside the walls and the many computers. There were a few desks around where I was at; on top of them were papers and files. I basically skimmed through them, not interested enough to read what this guy usually do on daily basics. Forgot to mention the huge table in the middle of this room with the chairs. The table has empty and half-filled cups of coffee on it. Its like there were more people around here. Ive had the thought that this place is a bad place to be in, but were all like that.
It wasnt until a couple more minutes after observing this place that the professor came in. Coming out to the door, Ive observed him for a while. Even though I am sitting down in a slouchy way, I can tell that hes taller than me. He sort of does have that stereotypical mad scientist look, wearing a lab coat, black leather gloves and gray crazy hair. His hair was about long enough to end around his shoulders and it was heavily greasy. The circles around his eyes would indicate that hes a hard worker, working for almost the entire day. He came walking up to me and sat on the chair next to me.
Welcome Metalix. He said in a thick Dracula accent. Its an honor to meet the great Metalix right before my eyes. My name is Walter Quist, but everyone calls me Vlad.
Named after the great emperor that killed hundreds of people? Sounds to me that theyve ran out of villain nick names.
We talked about us for quite a while. Our works, experiments, even our interests. At first I didnt really wanted to meet this guy but we quickly became friends. Bates would come in from time to time giving us shots of whiskey. I didnt drink much because I wasnt that thirsty, despite being a heavy drinker. For a while weve stopped talking and I would break the ice then.
Vlad, you knew my father right. Vlad gave me a slight nod as a response. What was he like?
Youre father was a great man. Weve worked together, creating these new mechanic machines. The first plasma laser gun was invented by both of us, anonymously though. Sometimes your father would come in my office with a new set of blue prints for these giant machines with artillery. I wasnt really into building these machines; I tend to work with biotechnology. Not like diseases, but humans and plants. Most of my experiments were all about the human body. Hell Ive used some mental theories with such technology like this. I was playing god from that time, until your father showed up!
At times I despised your father and his works. He would sometimes force me into creating these death machines. Hes got to look beyond his machines and take a look at what Im doing! Diseases that can take control of any human mind, plants with a right human mind. Some of my subjects were thrown into the asylum when theyve escaped. I literally had to use the other scientists that were working with me as human subjects! I may be going insane, but
He paused for a second. That freaked me out for a second there. It looked like he was about to turn into a giant green, buff machine in a split second. He took some deep breathes and went back to talking again.
We were more than partners. Close enough to be brothers. He wasnt all that bad. He was a great man
What happened to him?
Youve gotten that arm because of that Blade guy chopped it off, right? He said, possibly changing the subject. I looked at my robotic arm, then back to him. Its strange that he knew that my arm was chopped off by Blade. The next thing I knew after that incident, I woke up in a hospital with my new arm. Nobody ever knew how I got that arm, not even the doctors at the hospital knew about it. They said that it came with me when theyve found my body. After thinking about that, I questioned him again.
Yeah, how did you know that?
Isnt it obvious? The biomechanics that Ive worked with your father. It was his idea in the first place to place that arm to you.
Dont you change the subject, I shouted, throwing the filled shot glass down to the ground, causing it to smash into tiny pieces of glass and ice, in order to get his attention. I grabbed him with both of my hands by the collar of his lab coat, just to get the subject right. What happened to my father? Was he killed? Did he die of one of your diseases? Did YOU kill him? You better answer me right now or youll be having your own coffin to stay in!
Let
go of me! He choked. I deiced to let go of him, otherwise I wouldnt get an answer out of him and trust me I wanted answers. I threw him down to the chrome floor where he would crouch down, feeling his heavily grabbed neck. He took a few quick breathes and spoke, taking breathes between sentences.
Hes dead, Metalix. His entire body was
destroyed by a landmine when he was out to steal some more parts for his
creations. Every villain wanted to take down the worlds greatest evil mind in the world. They didnt even come close to get a scratch on him. He was not killed by Blade, the police nor anyone else that was associated by him or some other villain out there that wanted him dead. Just sheer dumb luck.
I was traumatized for a while. I sat down, trying to give a blank look. I wanted to cry, but I didnt. Few tears fell off of my cheeks.
But
he spoke once again, in a quiet tone.
thats not the reason why I brought you here. The reason why I did was that your father, Xavier Albert Metalix, is still alive to this very day.
I was dazed and confused, for not so long that it just cant be true. By the fact that my father would still be alive when all along I thought he was dead. If he lied to me I would just kill the doctor in front of me, but he was my only lead to end my shrouded mystery to find out what happened to the father that Ive looked up to for such a long time. Despite finding out this major discovery the only words that I could make out were Wait
what?
